What Do We Pray For?

What Do We Pray For?
Colossians 1:9-12; “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”
Paul the apostle an ambassador of Jesus Christ is writing to a small town where he has never been. Paul a man who is a special messenger of Jesus Christ. Paul a man who Jesus Christ himself delegated to him the authority for him to do certain tasks. Paul who many believe is imprisoned by the Romans for the first time is writing to the men of Colosse from captivity.
Why?
What else is Paul doing for the men of Colosse?
Praying Why?
What is Paul asking of God on behalf of these men?
When is Paul or how often is he and the others praying for the men of Colosse?
Paul had heard of them and he heard they were good people even loving, but Paul prayed for them so they would become even better Christians.
What do we pray for?
Paul is setting the example of what men are to pray for in that day and all the days to come. Paul and the men who are with him are praying always in One Accord, read Colossians 1:3, for the men of Colosse to become better Christians.
When I look at Jesus at his darkest hour in Gethsemane praying I find in Jesus praying more for others than Himself. Of the four gospel accounts John has recorded more words of His prayer than any of the other three gospels and most of his words are not for Himself. Jesus prays for his disciples then for you and me.
John 17:20-23; “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be as one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made prefect in one, and the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”
Does the world of lost men see the church of America as, one coming together and loving one another or do they see a bunch of individuals fighting over our differences?
Do we not know that there are lost men dying and going to Hell for we spend way to much time trying to tell one another what is wrong with your diversities?
Diversities of Gifts, Diversities in style of Worship, Diversities in Traditions, Diversities in Race, Diversities in Cultures; We Stiffed necked Stubborn men need to be praying All in One Accord.
God loves diversities, for he has not made one snowflake the same since He has been making snowflakes. But God can blanket a mountain with one snow using many snowflakes.
Is that Why we have Denominations?
Do we have denominations because of our diversities or because of our differences?
There is nothing wrong with the Church having denominations, just as there is nothing wrong with Israel having tribes?
The Bride of Christ is fighting with its self over our differences and not respecting its self for our diversities that is a sin. Think not what about Cain and Able? We are killing ourselves, Why?
Jesus said in John 13: 34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
How much are we to love one another?
How much does Jesus love you and I ?
It is written that great that droplets of blood and sweat poured from Jesus as he prayed in the garden. Back before even you and I was born Jesus prayed for us to be one before he went to the cross.
How much are we to love one another?
How much did Jesus Love You and I?
I am not saying to unite in an anything goes platform for the sake of unity. But on a Biblical based statement that any Christian can agree to: Like the Deity of Jesus, His Virgin Birth, His sinless life, His Atoning death on the Cross, His Resurrection; There is only One God Revealed in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: The Bible is the infallible inspired Word of God; We believe and receive Jesus as our Savior, and we have the Hope of Eternal Life with Him in Heaven.
On grounds like these, is there not room for us to get together in the name of Jesus and Love God and each other in order to move in the Power of Jesus Name in unified prayer?
Was there not only One Church, One Bride Born on the day of Pentecost?
Some men have told me my questions are like those of a prosecuting attorney. I said,” Yes I know, they are the questions I have had to ask myself and give an answer to Jesus.” My passion and prayer is for the men who call themselves by the name of Jesus are to be ONE, and to Pray in One Accord. I pray for them every day that they become more like Christ each day.
To two of my new brothers in Christ Jesus I want to thank-you for your writings, prayers, and say keep on writing, austincoons and truthslinger. If you two do not all ready know it by now I pray for you all the time to become better Christians and do and go Where God leads. I long for the day when we can meet face to face and Pray in One Accord.

  1. It’s quite an undertaking to build a blog around Prayer. God Bless. One thought: the posts are centered instead of left justified, and that makes reading difficult.

    • I am so sorry! I never gave a thought to making it difficult to read, I have dyslexia and it has really helped me to center my writing and my prayer life.
You are correct prayer is centered and is and not to be to the left or right.

      • That’s amazing that centered test helps with dyslexia. Wonderful. It makes sense, though, just off of the experience of reading your blog. My eyes are used to interpreting information in a certain way. When the paragraph format is centered, those rules of interpretation are confused. When information interpretation is confused already, however, a realignment could help in sorting it out. Logical. Love it. God bless.

  2. James,
Now I know the focus of your ministry: prayer, with the knowledge that when we pray, it is in the unity that Christ asked the Father for us to have. When we pray, then we truly love others.

One point I’d like to make is that we know to hold shared doctrines firm and thereby pray in one accord, but I think it is important for us to stand up for truths found in the Bible which certain denominations disclaim, and to bring all our brethren together in truth. Betsy

    • Betsy, I agree with you that there are certain doctrine truths that cannot be discarded. I do not prescribe to an anything goes doctrine for the sake of unity, I could list some of the things: There is only one God, revealed in three persons, the virgin birth of Christ, His sinless life, His death on the cross and resurrection. This is just a short list to start with but I have come up with a list that all true believers agree on. The funny thing is we still find things to fight about!! Why? I love hearing from you and God Bless, James

I pray for a lot of things, people and favors. Now you are included in my prayers:)

    • My Loving little sister in Christ Jesus, Thank-you for your prayers for me! In my eyes it is the greatest gift I can give on behalf of anyone. I have seen our Lord answer the cry of His children in His perfect way, in His perfect timing, and in His perfect Love every time we pray. He is truly our Abba Father, Amen. James
