Quotes on Prayer! IV

May there be a blessing found in these words for all who reads them, Amen.

There is no power like that of prevailing prayer——of Abraham pleading for Sodom, Jacob wrestling in the stillness of the night, Moses standing in the breach, Hannah intoxicated with sorrow, David heartbroken with remorse and grief, Jesus in sweat and blood. Add to this list from the records of the church your personal observation and experience, and always there is cost of passion unto blood. Such prayer prevails. It turns ordinary mortals into men of power. It brings power. It brings fire. It brings rain. It brings God.

Samuel Chadwick

Prayer begins where human capacity ends.

Marian Anderson

Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines.

Satchel Paige

Someone said that when we work, we work, but when we pray, God works.

Bill Hybels

We pray with words until the words are cut off and we are left in a state of wonder.

Isaac the Syrian

To be complete, prayer needs an early, significant dose of spiritual silence. Such silence is necessary if the believer hopes to minister effectively for Jesus.

Dick Eastman

Who rises from prayer a better man, his prayer is answered.

George Meredith

The great battles, the battles that decide our destiny and the destiny of generations yet unborn, are not fought on the public platforms, but in moments of agony.

Samuel Logan Brengle

The beginning of prayer is silence.

Mother Teresa

It is wonderful that in our prayers we not only speak but can also listen. We cannot do so at once; we must get accustomed to it. God’s hidden fellowship is found by those who fear him.

  1. Hannah intoxicated with sorrow, from the deepest pit if her heart she prayed and God listened. Thanks my brother. Prayer is so intimate and beautiful and it’s a shame we feel burdened as if it were a task. Im guilty of that sometimes so thank you for this.

  2. A man who never reads will never be read; he who never quotes will never be quoted. He who will not use the thoughts of another’s brain, proves he has no brains of his own. ~ Charles H. Spurgeon
