Quotes on Prayer! X

NKJ Mark 10:51; So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you”

The Bible is the key to finding God’s Will when we pray, providing balance and meaning. Most of all, using the Word of God in prayer is about as close as we can get to the Living Word, the Lord Jesus. If we’re going to bring our needs before His throne, praying in His Name . . . it makes sense to speak in His language. It’s something I’ve learned from my friend, Bunny . . . it’s something I’ve learned from the Lord!

Joni Eareckson Tada

When we approach God, our Father, we are drawing close to Him who completely understands us.

Phillip Keller

Because there is a devil. he is cunning; he is mighty; he never rests; he is continually plotting the down fall of the children of God. If the child of God relaxes in prayer, the devil will succeed in ensnaring him.

R. A. Torrey

The first duty of love is to listen.

Paul Tillieb

God answers sharp and sudden on some prayers, and thrusts the thing we have prayed for in our face, A gauntlet with a gift in ’t.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Would to God you could forget everything else, and cry out, O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? . . . Because it is when a man is brought to this confession that deliverance is at hand.

Andrew Murray

God throws our sins into the depths of the sea. I like to think that He puts a “No Fishing Allowed” sign there. And this is necessary because the devil loves to fish up forgiven sin; he accuses us day and night.

Corrie Ten Boom

Our prayer and God’s mercy are like two buckets in a well; while the one ascends the other descends.

Mark Hopkins

There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him.

William Law

Only one petition in the Lord’s Prayer has any condition attached to it: it is the petition for forgiveness.

  1. Thank you for sharing these quotes on prayer. My favorite was the “No Fishing Allowed.”

    Have a good day.

    • Tahlitha, Thank-you for blessing me your kindness in your comment! Yes Corrie Ten Boom has many words that are treasures to be quoted much of her work has inspired me. Thank-you for following Men of One Accord and God Bless you, James

  2. Again great quotes. Thanks for sharing them!

  3. Besides the very words of our Lord, Jesus, which we happen to be studying in my Tuesday night group, my favorite was, “There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him” William Law
If I ever feel offended or upset by someone, for i.e. on my way to work on the Highway..someone recklessly decides to cut me off, I will pray for them and thank God for the fact that he has me covered! When we pray for another, we connect with the heart of God in his will, which is filled with mercy for all of us..:)

    • My dear friend in Christ I cannot tell how much I look forward to your comments! 🙂 Yes that is a great quote. I also think the one after by William Temple helps us see how important it is to God that we forgive. To me in my limited insight I think that the two almost belong together. In my heart for me to forgive I must love that someone, if I love that someone I pray for that someone. It was said of the first century Christians that they loved you before they knew you. So I pray change my heart oh Lord make it more like You. Please feel free to pray this pray for me. May I also pray this for you? God Bless, Amen.

  4. I had a man attack me at church today as “the least charitable person he has ever met” because I quoted 2 peter who says that in the end times people, because of their lust, will willingly be misguided into believing every thing that is, has continued from the beginning just as we see it proceeding now.
I pointed out that the truth of the Word always reproves me, was there anything in the verse that reproved him? He then stalked away, and , praise God, I have a new friend to pray for and love, though the more I love the less I be loved.

    • Great question! Reprove: 1.) To scold for wrong doing or administer a rebuke to. 2.) to express disapproval of. 1) admonish, chide, rebuke, reprimand, 2) censure, condemn, denounce,
How about the word reprobate: A person abandoned to their sins; Titus 1:16.
Paul also points in Titus 3:9-11; to avoid dissension, I not knowing what all has taken place in this discussion can only really add to forgive and pray for one another. So that love and the truth of Jesus Christ be poured out on you both, Amen. The more we love like Christ the more the world shall hate us, Paul also counted this his honor to share in the sufferings of Christ.
I shall be praying that the Lord pour out His peace upon as you share in this long-suffering to the Glory of Jesus Christ, Amen.
