Chicken Soup for the Soul

I need your prayers and help; I have been contacted by the people who publish “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, for writing a poem or a short story for their new book. Many of you may have read their books I have not, so you know the kind of stories and poems they are looking for. I am not sure if there is something I have written already that they might like. Maybe I should come up with something new. Maybe “Son Off the Edge” or one of my poems like “Yahweh’s Poet” would be a good choice.

Please pray for me to make the choice God has for me. If you would please go back and read over some of my old poems and give me your input, please? My brothers and sisters in Christ I value your wisdom and console on this matter.

May the Peace of Christ be with you, Amen.

  1. I’ve not actually read them so can not really be on any help. But, I can say..very cool!. I know we aren’t supposed to be proud of our own accomplishments, but I’m fairly sure it’s ok for somebody else to be proud on your behalf! Congratulations.

  2. Brother, you got this. Daddy God just increased what He has truly called you to do. Give back to Him as an act of worship this opportunity and the words will come freely.

    • Sandy, I knew you would be there with prayer and encouragement! As you know I never set out to be a writer. Writing for me all started as just trying to write little devotionals for men’s prayer groups. I sure did not go looking for this opportunity that came along. I never dreamed anything like this could happen. Of course what I choose to write still has to be acceptable to them for the book. Who am I? A know-body who happens to love Jesus. Thank-you Sandy and God Bless.

  3. I’ve not read the books, either but I agree with leftnfree. Pray about it and ask God to give you what He wants and do it as an act of worship and honoring Him. You’ll be surprised how easily the words flow. I pray the Lord gives you what He wants written in Jesus Name, and congratulations. How exciting for you!

  4. May God bless you.

  5. It has been a while since I read a “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book. Usually, the content depends on the book’s title. There is usually a theme, like for teens, dog lovers, miracles, etc. They should make one, if they haven’t yet, for the poem lover’s soul. I really was encouraged by your testimony, and that would also make a great story for “Chicken Soup”. Many of the things you’ve written are inspiring! I will be praying for you.

  6. How about: My Morning Prayer on Aug 21, 2013 it a nice breakfast read…..or His Inspiration!, Miracle or I Tossed A Stone. They are all great post! Congrats! 🙂

    • Yes, Morning Paryer is a good one and all the others are too. The more I think about it I may just flood them with what God has given me and let them pick and choose. Thank-you for all your help, prayers and God Bless you.

  7. James,
Congratulations. I would counsel you to quickly go to Amazon or a bookstore near you and get your hands on one of these “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books — I have not read one. Ask the publisher who contacted you about the theme for the new book, then write what the Lord inspires you to share with others. God bless.

  8. What an honour – wow! I have read some excerpts from “Chicken Soup for the Soul” by a dear friend many years ago. Alas, I don’t recall details. However, I do remember the writing to be encouraging and thematic. I will let you know of posts which stand out. Do they have a requirement that the writing hasn’t been previously published?

    • Merryn, I have been given four broad categories which do not seem to fit my writing so much. Except for “Son Off the Edge”, yes this story does need to told to a larger audience. Yet so much of my poems go along with this story of what God has done. This like so many of the things our Lord has ask of me I have not the talent to do. Yet I know that I know He does so without fear I shall take this step into the unknown. Another good way to contact me is at ! Thank-you for all your haelp and prayers. God Bless! 🙂

  9. way to go. true to your calling. vw

  10. I like chicken soup; it’s really good when you’re sick. My advice is to write for those who are soul-sick. My belief is that God never wastes a tear, so use yours to heal the hurts of others.

    • Seeing as as how I have a head cold going on right I mush agree with you about chicken soup I just had some. I find your wisdom great and will use it and our Father’s guidanceon this new task. I may even be rejected on whatever I write. God Bless you Anthony!

  11. Congratulations, what an honor. No doubt, The Lord will direct your path. 🙂

  12. WOW that is amazing congratulations. I will especially keep you in my prayers for guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.
