Today at work I had a conversation with a fellow co-worker, new friend at lunch. A man in his late thirties, early forties about family life. We will call him Ron to protect the innocent. We were talking about family live and some of its joys.
After an exchange of a few stories Ron spoke up and said, “I think my sixteen year old daughter is mentally challenged!”
I replied, “Oh, and what makes you think that?
Ron began, “Last night she and I were home alone and she ask if she could make us some tomato soup. I told her sure it sounds good just get a can from the cupboard. Read the directions on the can and do as it says. I then went back to studying as she went off to the kitchen. After some time had passed I could still hear her in the kitchen searching through the cupboards. So I went to check on her. I found her with a sauce pan open tomato can poured into it and her hunting in a frantic through the kitchen. I ask her what is the problem?”
She answered, “Dad! I found the soup and read the directions: Opened the can, poured it into a medium sauce pan, and now I am looking for a can of water.”
With a smile and a giggle I said, “Oh really! Hope you remained calm?”
Ron went on, “Yes, I jumped in and explained to use the empty can and fill it with water to add to the soup. We finished the cooking together.”
I said, “That is good, Train up a child in the ways of the Lord and they shall not depart from it. Also teaching them about the little things in life helps too. Years from now you and her are going have many laughs about this. As funny as this is it still does not mean your daughter is mentally challenged.”
Ron continued, “Wait, wait! There is more that proves she is! Later she said she was cold and her feet were really cold. I told her mon had some clean blankets in the dryer. If she would turn the dryer back on for a few minutes then she could take one out and it would be nice and warm to wrap up in. So off to the laundry room she scampered. A few minutes later I hear this screaming and awful banging coming from the laundry room. I rushed to the laundry room and found her: She had the dryer door open, taped the little button so the dryer stayed on, pulled up a chair, and stuck her feet inside with the blankets to get warm. Being tossed and on the floor around and around she was, for her feet had gotten twisted up in the blankets. Now what do you have to say?”
I answered, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he/she should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him/her.” James 1:5″
I need your prayers and help; I have been contacted by the people who publish “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, for writing a poem or a short story for their new book. Many of you may have read their books I have not, so you know the kind of stories and poems they are looking for. I am not sure if there is something I have written already that they might like. Maybe I should come up with something new. Maybe “Son Off the Edge” or one of my poems like “Yahweh’s Poet” would be a good choice.
Please pray for me to make the choice God has for me. If you would please go back and read over some of my old poems and give me your input, please? My brothers and sisters in Christ I value your wisdom and console on this matter.
May the Peace of Christ be with you, Amen.
We pray Thee, O Christ, to keep us under the spell of immortality. My we never again think and act as if Thou were dead. Let us more and more come to know Thee as a living Lord who hath promised to them that believe: “Because I live, ye shall live also.” Help us to remember that we are praying to the Conqueror of Death, that we may no longer be afraid nor dismayed by the world’s problems and threats, since Thou hast overcome the world. In Thy strong name, we ask for Thy living presence and Thy victorious power. Amen.

I am not saying I am a prophet of any type just that the words: The Day Has Come have been on mind for a few days. Tonight I sat down and this poem poured out. No mis-spellings, none of the usual problems I have when I write. This poem poured out just as you see it now.
Here is a quote I do not know where I picked it up from. Maybe one of you might know?
